Description

This is my first attempt at shooting the North America Nebula after getting a cooled, one-shot-color camera (ZWO ASI2600MC) and beginning to learn PixInsight.  It is an object that I definitely want to revisit now that I'm much more familiar with the equipment and processing software.

The North America Nebula (Cataloged as NGC 7000 or Caldwell 20) is a large emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus.  The shape of this nebula looks a lot like the continent it was named after and covers an area more than four times the size of the full moon.  From the northern regions of Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, this is one nebula whose name becomes obvious right away.
